Our regular look at GIBS’ events, guests and news

Professor Nicola Kleyn has confirmed her decision not to stand for a second term as Dean of GIBS.

Her current contract expires at the end of March 2020, but she has been asked to stay on for a little while after that to officiate at GIBS’ autumn graduation, “which I’m delighted to do, as this is always a highlight in our GIBS calendar,” she said.

After handing over, Kleyn says she is “looking forward to returning to a scholarly role as a member of the GIBS faculty as well as taking an international sabbatical.”

The University of Pretoria will shortly be advertising locally and internationally for an incoming Dean.

…and a new Deputy Dean

Professor Danie Petzer has been appointed Deputy Dean of GIBS. Currently Director of Research, Petzer has been instrumental in building GIBS’ research profile and has also played a key role in liaising with the University of Pretoria, as well as supporting the development of GIBS’ plans and metrics over the past few years. During this period, Petzer has also been an active researcher and teacher.
