Have you ever wondered how to get to grips with the vast amount of material generated by an event like the Truth & Reconciliation Commission, the arms deal inquiry or, much more recently, the Zondo Commission into State Capture? The answer lies in acquiring the services of a skilled writer and journalist like Paul Holden. His great ability is to fillet out the extraneous material and leave the reader with the crucial bones.
His latest work presents the work of the Zondo Commission in a quick, concise and accurate format (see Books, p. 78). With his publisher, Jacana, he chose GIBS as the venue for the book’s launch. Holden was hosted by another very distinguished author and journalist, Ferial Haffajee, herself the author of a book on Zondo, Days of Zondo – The Fight for Freedom from Corruption. Among their audience were a number of distinguished corruption-busters, including Corruption Watch founder David Lewis.
