GIBS was recently recognised by the United Arab Emirates' Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) for an outstanding contribution to its leadership development. The award was presented to GIBS by SEWA Chairman, Dr. Rashid Alleem, at the annual Sharjah Energy Forum held in Sharjah in January this year.

The SEWA-organised Forum, in its sixth year, had participation from 359 energy experts and 140 top energy companies across 15 countries globally. The theme was centred around future energy strategy plans for the end of 2025. GIBS exhibited at the event along with 35 companies in the energy sector. The School has been the executive education provider for SEWA's learning and development academy for over a year and has delivered programmes to SEWA's leadership.

In his speech at the event, Dr. Alleem highlighted SEAW's keenness to support scientific research and economic studies related to diversifying energy sources and environmental protection.

In reply, Executive Director: Open Programmes at GIBS, Nishan Pillay, said, "Through our programmes, we aim to provide leaders with diverse mindsets, thereby improving performance in their roles. We aim to support leaders and executives across the globe with relevant and impactful learning and engagement.

“We are honoured to receive this award as it reaffirms GIBS' commitment to leadership development and we strongly believe that investing in leadership development is essential to building forward-thinking strategies across any organisation and country."

GIBS' continued work with SEWA is centred around the delivery of quality learning interventions to professionals on a range of topics including senior executive development, customer centricity, innovation, business acumen, and women in leadership.
